The staff at Sandlot is some of the most qualified baseball and softball coaches in the America! Please read there bios below and choose one of our qualified coaches to help you or your ball player reach their full potential!

Pam Sterrett - President

Pam has worked in the medical field for the past 10 years, in administrative and budgetary roles. She currently has 1 son playing baseball at the collegiate level and 1 daughter playing softball at the Varsity level at Lawrence Central High School. Pam herself has over 10+ years playing experience and 15+ years in track, winning the Peace Games for High Jump 3 consecutive years.

Marty Sterrett - V.P. of Operations

Marty has 9+ years of management experience, the last 5 as owner and operator of a local real estate appraisal company, as well as, a career member of the local fire department. He's served the community for six years on a local youth baseball board, serving as Boys Player Agent and Chief Umpire. He was also a coach for the Indy Hawks, a local traveling team, taking them to a State Championship. Martin played competitive baseball for 13 years, has coached for 18+ years, and umpired at the high school and college levels.

Jan Hartzell - Personal Touch Screen Printing

Jan is the owner and operator of Personal touch Screen Printing, now housed in the Sandlot Indy location. For over 19 years she has been making shirts, jackets, uniforms, and other misc. items for the local Little Leagues, Schools, Fire Department, and other area businesses. Jan also brings years of coaching softball to the staff.

Jeff Hartzell - Lead Instructor

Jeff began a 20 year baseball career at the age of 4. He played many years thru Little League leading every all-star team possible. Following little league, he attended Lawrence Central High School. To date, the last player to start and letter all 4 years at the varsity level leading the Bears to their first Sectional Championship in 17 years during his senior year in 1998. He played collegiate ball at Manchester College. Again, the only player in his class to letter all 4 years at the varsity level winning 2 Conference Championships. At age 20, his professional coaching career began. He was the Head Coach of the Indy Hawks for 4 years and has served as assistant at Lawrence Central. He has been extremely successful in his short coaching career winning 4 State Championships ( 2 Indiana, Michigan, and Kentucky ) and back-to-back National Championships.

John Feld - Fastpitch Instructor

John is dedicated to girls fastpitch softball pitchers and hitters. John combines his love of instructing with his skill of developing talent to create a winning formula for Sandlot Indy students. John comes to Sandlot Indy with over 20 years of girls fastpitch instructing. He has coached 13 Indiana High School State Champion pitchers. He has also coached 70 ASA & NSA "A" State Champion pitchers. Sixty girls have gone to the collegiate level who have been taught by John. Eight of those students in the last 3 years have signed with Fresno State, University of Louisville, Ohio University, University of Kentucky & Indiana State.

Lorenzo Walker - Fastpitch Hitting Instructor

Lorenzo comes to the Sandlot family with over 12 years coaching experience, 8 of which at the High School level. He was able to coach 2 of his teams to top 10 National Championship finishes. Within his career he has been awarded Indianapolis Star-North High School "Coach of the Year" and Marion County "Coach of the Year". He heads the Indy Crush fastpitch travel organization, which currently has over 20 Alumni playing college softball. Over the years Lorenzo, has established himself as a top rated hitting coach with the expertise to instruct all aspects of the softball hitting game. His instruction consists of a linear/rotational hitting combination as taught by most elite college softball programs across the nation.

Sherard Clinkscales - Baseball Pitching Instructor

Sherard was a standout pitcher at Purdue and a former Kansas City Royals top prospect and he spent 10 years in Major League scouting.  Sherard also served as Notre Dame's pitching coach while also assisting with recruiting. During his first full year at Notre Dame, Clinkscales helped the Irish attract the nation's fourth-ranked recruiting class while also making a positive impact on several of the Notre Dame pitchers.  His efforts with the pitching staff were even more evident in 2008. Notre Dame was the only team in the BIG EAST Conference to place its entire weekend rotation on the all-league ballot. Major League baseball also noticed Clinkscales' work as the Irish had five members of their pitching staff drafted in the top 24 rounds of the 2008 MLB draft. A record-setting strikeout act at Purdue, Clinkscales was the 31st pick in the 1992 Major League draft, going to the Royals as a compensatory pick after the first round.  After injuries cut short his playing career, Clinkscales parlayed his connections into a position with the Atlanta Braves as an area-scouting supervisor then later was with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays assistant director of scouting and returned to the Braves as an area scouting supervisor before being promoted to the position of professional scout. Clinkscales was an all-county pitcher at Brebeuf Jesuit High School, he emerged as one of the the nation's top prospects as a junior at Purdue, he still owns Purdue's top career strikeout average.  In 1992 his season was ranked among the best ever at Purdue as he tied team records for strikeouts and complete games. He earned the second-most votes for 1992 Big Ten pitcher of the year.

Emmitt Carney - Baseball Pitching Instructor

Emmitt has served as pitching coach for Pony Express Baseball Club and Indiana Bulls Baseball Club.  He has Associate Scout experience with Atlanta, Tampa, Toronto and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has been assistant/pitching coach for various Indianapolis high school baseball programs. He has done pitching instruction for the past 19 years at various training academies.  Since 1992 Carney has coached over 62 players that have been drafted by the MLB, five players have been taken in the 1st round.  Three of Carney's players have won World Series Rings and he has coached one Rookie of the Year.  In 2009 he had 14 players on MLB rosters.  Of the 98 total Indiana Bulls players that have been drafted by MLB organizations he has coached 70 of the 92, as of 2008 he has had a role in coaching over 260 Indiana Bulls players that have played college baseball.  Since 1993 Carney has coached 10 players that have been named Indiana's Mr. Baseball.

Blake Hibler - Baseball Pitching Instructor

Blake is a graduate from Lawrence Central High School.  He helped lead Lawrence Central to a Marion County title and finished the season ranked #1 in the state. After finishing high school he moved on to pitch at Danville Area Community College (DACC) where he never lost a game on the mound.  Blake now serves as the pitching coach at Lawrence Central and is the Director of Operations of Pastime Tournaments.  Prior to joining the Lawrence Central staff Blake coached the Indiana Prospects, Indiana Mustangs and Lawrence Lynx.

Bob Poplin - Baseball Pitching Instructor

Bob is a former two-time all-conference and all-state pitcher and outfielder in high school and went on to perform as a Division I pitcher at the University of Wisconsin. Over the last decade, he has developed an extensive background in coaching at a variety of levels from age 8 through high school. Bob’s coaching philosophy is to emphasize solid pitching mechanics that result in a consistent and correctible motion. He effectively adapts his coaching style to the age and skill level of the player, beginning with the basics and advancing with the aptitude of the player. He places great importance on helping each player recognize and understand his own individual skill set and how he can maximize the skills he possesses.

Jordan Burton - Fastpitch Instructor

Jordan was a Varsity Student Athlete all four years at Lawrence Central High School. She received numerous amounts of awards throughout her softball career varying from Most Valuable Player, Mental Attitude, and Good leadership. She played softball year round for many travel programs and had many accomplishments with every team. She received a full ride scholarship to Indiana University-Perdue University of Fort Wayne for softball and is now looking forward to continuing helping her students work towards the same.

Tim Anderson

Tim played four years at Lawrence North High School under Coach Richard Winzenread where he lettered at the Varsity Level and gained All-Conference recognition his junior and senior years. Following high school, he played two years at the Junior College level (JUCO). At the JUCO he started every game over that two year span for the Danville Area C.C. Jaguars. While playing for Coach Tim Bunton he gathered various awards and accolades. In 2005-06 Tim was named a member of the All-Conference team. Following the 2006 season he was recognized by Collegiate Baseball Magazine in the article "JUCO Players to Watch Out For" as one of the top JUCO players in the nation at the third base position. Again in the 2007 season Tim gathered All-Conference recognition and missed making the "Region 24 All-Region Team" by two votes. Currently Tim attends University of Indianapolis where he has been a member of the Greyhounds baseball program for the past two years. Tim has coached in the RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities).
